Welcome to the Friends of White Flint!
Who?
Friends of White Flint is a private, non-profit organization, formed in September 2007, which promotes a new and improved White Flint. Many of our Directors and members served on the Montgomery County Planning Board’s White Flint Steering Committee, helping craft the draft White Flint Sector Plan. Our members include residents, community organizations, businesses, property owners and developers.
Why?
Friends of White Flint is an independent, non-governmental voice, bringing together various stakeholders to speak for the entire White Flint area during the planning and evolution of the new White Flint.
Goals:
Friends of White Flint supports the Goal and Vision developed by the 46-member White Flint Advisory Group in its September 2008 Final Report to the Montgomery County Planning Board.
Our Goal is:“An Innovative, Spectacular, Inviting, Green, Transit-oriented Urban Destination.”
Our Vision is “A Green, Walkable, Fun and Friendly Place to Live, Work and Play.”
What Do We Do?
Friends of White Flint hosts the FLOG – the Friends of White Flint Blog, on its web site: www.friendsofwhiteflint.org. The FLOG offers news and commentary on the evolution of White Flint. In addition, Friends of White Flint offers speakers on modern urban planning, an e-newsletter service, and town hall meetings on plans for the new White Flint. Friends of White Flint also advocates the adoption of its Goal and Vision, and will take positions on urban planning issues in support of that Goal and Vision.
